A route with many
directions
Sentiero dell'arte
In the direction of art, the main museums
along the “Wine Route” are worth a visit, starting with Fabriano
and its Museo
della
Carta e della Filigrana (Paper and Watermark Museum), Deposito
Attrezzato d’Opere d’Arte (Works of Art Warehouse)
and the Pinacoteca Civica Bruno Majolati (Town Art Gallery).
Next stop Matelica,
with its Mueso Civico ed Archeologico (Civic and Archaeological Museum)
and Museo
Piersanti (Piersanti Museum) which houses the “Sfera
di Matelica”, a kind of ancient solar clock found in
the heart of the area. Other works of art can he found in the Pinacoteca
Civica (Town Art Gallery) and Museo Civico (Town
Museum) in Camerino. Still on the theme of art, the many theatres along
the route are particularly important: they are among the oldest in the
Marche region, an area rich in theatres. To mention just
a few: the Gentile
Theatre in Fabriano, Marchetti
in Camerino and Piermarini
in Matelica. It’s also worth a detour to take in the
Arena Sferisterio
in Macerata where, in July and August, there is a renowned
Opera Season. Moving on from art with a capital A to the so called minor
arts, there are numerous forms of traditional and genuine crafts: glass,
copper; ceramics and wicker. In Fabriano there is a permanent Exhibition
of Traditional Costumes of the Marche region; in Matelica the “Artelaio”
and near Camerino,
in the Rocca
di Varano, the Exhibition
Centre for Arts and Crafts.
